Journey Around The World

Prepare to take a musical journey… with a twist! With the grandeur and nostalgia of Elgar, the pastoral nature and intimacy of Vaughan Williams and the songs of their contemporary; British composer Samuel Coleridge Taylor who encompasses all these elements and more.

In an entertaining evening of sweet songs of devotion, barely-repressed longing, and mercurial tales of love and loss Elizabeth Llewellyn will take you from the Sub-Sahara in Africa, to the storm-swept coast of Britain, via the white-washed villages of rural Spain, back to the salons of 19th century London. This performance will travel through these places where romance, passion, and wit marked the lives of the British literary figures who lived there.

Elizabeth Llewellyn is a British opera singer who debuted with the English National Opera in 2010. This performance will be followed with an interview with Elizabeth, hosted by Dr Hannah Marie Robbins (Assistant Professor in Popular Music, University of Nottingham).
