A magical new retelling of this beloved character’s journey to finding their heart.
With the Tin Man’s rusting joints in need of oil, this stunning new dance production for families and children aged 7+ explores the Tin Man’s encounters with the Witch – the keeper of the oil, and their passage to finding friends and happiness.
Set in the deep dark woods, the Witch loves to play devious games and discovers that the Tin Man has no heart. The Witch sets the Tin Man a task of finding it to receive more precious oil. The Tin Man is left alone with what seems to be an impossible task, but what they don’t know is that the adventure that lies ahead is much more hopeful than they could ever imagine.
Told through enchanting storytelling, dramatic choreography, stunning costumes and lighting that are all accompanied by a newly commissioned score by award-winning composer Anna Appleby, we invite you to experience the Tin Man’s journey that results in a captivating story of self-discovery, growth and friendship.
Supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England, the Royal Philharmonic Society with funding from the RPS Drummond Fund and PRS Foundation’s The Open Fund for Organisations.
