180 years ago, four men from St Kilda, a remote Scottish island, killed the last garefowl in the UK, believing the strange seabird to be a witch.

In association with Talking Gigs

The Garefowl project brings together 6 musicians, including a descendent of the killer of that last bird, to explore lessons of extinction and explore musical traditions of St Kilda. Featuring fiddle, viola, bouzoiki, field recordings and seabird bone drones amongst others, this incredible project is deeply evocative and immersive.

This event will be hosted with Talking Gigs, with a musically illustrated discussion in the first half followed by a full performance.
