Boundary-defying Balochi Benju in association with Talking Gigs

Join us for a night of boundary-defying music, with the electric Benju sound of Ustad Noor Bakhsh

The extraodinary Benju player Ustad Noor Bakhsh, brings his electric Benju and a sound steeped in the deep-rooted traditions of Balochi music whose expressive style channels the rhythms of the Makran coast of Pakistan. Experience the spirit of centuries-old traditions, for a night of music that moves effortlessly between folk, classical and improvisation, creating a sound that’s both rooted and otherworldly.

Ustad Noor’s playing, shaped by both local and African influences, gained international attention with his debut album ‘Jingul,’ released digitally in 2022 and on vinyl in 2023, highlighting the rich, cross-cultural heritage of his region.

Joining Ustad Noor on stage are Daniyal Ahmad (Bansuri & Damboora) and Doshambay (Damboora)

Together, the three music artists offer a richly textured evening shaped by folk traditions, musical journeys, and driven by bold improvisation and live energy.

This will be an evening in association with Talking Gigs – full details on the event will be released soon, but expect an evening of enlightening insight and incredible music.
