Join some of the UK’s finest award-winning (and Sheffield-dwelling) artists for a unique collaborative evening of truly top quality acoustic folk and electric folk rock music.

Two of contemporary folk’s brightest talents, multi award-winners Rowan Rheingans and Sam Carter unite for a rare one off duo performance of each other songs. Fiddle player, banjoist, songwriter, theatre-maker and audio producer Rowan is best known for her work with highly acclaimed bands Lady Maisery and The Rheingans Sisters whilst Sam is renowned for his narrative-rich songwriting and captivating live performances filled with the raw honesty, humour, and skilled musicianship.

Nancy Kerr and James Fagan are celebrating their 30th anniversary in partnership this year and are one of the most beloved and enduring acts in British folk. Twice Winners of Best Duo at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, they combine stunning vocals and stellar instrumentation on fiddle, guitar and bouzouki with Nancy’s insightful and poetic lyrics. The couple have brought joy, inspiration and memorably energetic arrangements to global audiences and their set is sure to cover the great dynamic and thematic range for which they’re so admired.

The Magpie Arc are a cross-border band from Sheffield, Edinburgh and Arran and feature the award-winning musicians Nancy Kerr, Findlay Napier, Tom Wright, Alex Hunter plus tour guitarist Sam Carter. Formed to blend their songwriting and musicianship into a fresh take on the British folk rock sound of the ’60s and ’70s, the band quickly gained recognition for its unique mix of folk, rock and prog-rock elements so expect excellent songs, lush harmonies, scything electric guitars, gorgeous fiddle lines and rock solid bass and drums in a set of classic UK folk rock.

Rowan Rheingans – Praise for Rowan’s solo album The Lines We Draw Together…”quite extraordinary, conveying both beauty and horror with its spare, often tellingly hushed textures that sometimes expand outwards into a more chaotic and surprisingly richly detailed sonic climate” (Living Tradition)

Sam Carter – “the finest English-style fingerpicking guitarist of his generation” (Jon Boden, Bellowhead)

Nancy Kerr and James Fagan – “The sheer abundance of distilled poetry on display is inspiring. And when it unravels in such a moving lyrical way, such as this, it will remain in the audience’s minds for a long time.” (Spiral Earth)

The Magpie Arc – “Everyone in the band brings their own talents but the synergy makes them much more than the sum of their parts. It takes “folk-rock” to a new and exciting level.” (Fatea Magazine)
