A Bharatanatyam production celebrating women through dance

Doors 7.30, Event start 8pm.

Caste Away: From Tradition to Heresy is a powerful solo Bharatanatyam work by Dr. Prathiba Batley, exploring five shades of womanhood — divine, comic, lover, survivor, and the disruptor. Drawing inspiration from ancient Tamil poetry, the piece reimagines the classical dance form for contemporary audiences. It is both celebration and provocation — a visual and emotional odyssey that speaks across cultures, generations, and identities.

Dr. Prathiba Batley is an internationally acclaimed Bharatanatyam artist and three-time Indian National Champion, recognised for her innovative interpretations of classical dance. Recipient of the Dance/USA Fellowship from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, she uses Bharatanatyam to address themes of social justice, gender, and cultural identity.
