A protest is continuing outside the Students’ Union building on the concourse. The protest, which began on 1 May, relates to the ongoing situation in Gaza and similar protests are taking place at other universities across the country.
Firstly, we’d like to reiterate that we are horrified by the violence and loss of innocent life in Israel and Gaza, and we join others in our community and across the world in feeling appalled and deeply troubled by the suffering and devastation experienced on both sides. We’re acutely aware of the strength of feeling and the opposing views that exist in relation to this matter. Our thoughts continue to be with those affected by the crisis, and we are supporting our community however we can.
At present there is a peaceful encampment outside the Students Union on Campus, around 200 metres away from the Octagon Centre. This has no impact on ongoing or upcoming events.
